Bad mic day?

Just a word of caution.

There is an explosion of super low cost bluetooth microphones on Amazon, ebay, Temu and so forth.

The prices are too good to be true, some are as low as $12 for a bluetooth system!

Could this be a crazy low cost wireless mic solution for your videos?

Tempting I know, so I bought one on ebay to test.

Well it sounded like I was inside a tin can and just not good enough, I have binned it already!

The lesson here is do not skimp on a mic. Audio is crucial to your videos, if your lighting is a bit off the viewer will forgive you, but bad audio will make them leave.

So go for trusted brands like Rode and Dji and treat the expense as an investment that will be used for years in your videos .. videos that will actually MAKE you money.

Having said all that :) IF you have bought a low cost wireless mic you are HAPPY with let me know and I hope to test it and report back.

YouTube shorts now longer

Big news .. from October 15 (today) you can upload YouTube shorts up to 3 minutes in length, before then it was only 60 secs max.

(I just tested it and the longer duration for vertical videos to appear under the shorts tab has NOT yet kicked in for me)

This is handy if your beautifully crafted video ends up at 61 secs and then doesn't appear as a short.

Also handy if you make longer than 60 secs videos for TikTok and want to cross-post to YouTube Shorts.
