Did I have a genius idea?

When you are filming yourself on your phone it's easy to get distracted and forget to look at the lens.

Also, I prefer to talk on the fly with bullet points rather than write a script. Yes, I could have written notes to remind me, but I had a thought ...

What if the bullets were actually ON the camera and what if I had a reminder to look at the lens?

So I bought a plain white iPhone 16 pro case Amazon USA - Amazon UK (obviously you can do the same if you are Android) and used a whiteboard marker to add some bullets, and an arrow to remind me to look at the lens!

Basically it's a whiteboard phone case :)

ChatGPT for naming

Do you struggle with naming things?

So I made this up ... imagine you are a professional photographer who specialises in shooting supercars and wants to start an educational channel for people who want to the learn the skills to do the same.

I asked ChatGpT:

I asked which was the best? :) Though I knew my favourite was Supercar Shots.

Nice job!

(Obviously you would need to then check if the social media handles were available, competitors with similar names, trademark issues etc.)

Ok, if you are not on a mac ignore this one!

So my ScreenFlow has behaved weirdly, it simply would NOT hook up to my internal or external webcam or iPhone. It would give an error whenever I tried to record if any camera was enabled.

I wanted to cry! Well, I am British so actually ... just frown :)

The suggestion I got was that another mac app iGlasses had totally hijacked the camera feature and caused a bug.

I tried to bin the iGlasses app but still had the annoying issue, then after a google I realised removing an app doesn't mean all the little files connected to it are gone from your mac.

I discovered App Cleaner (free) via a reputable mac forum. (Not-affiliated)

In the apps own words:

AppCleaner is a small application which allows you to thoroughly uninstall unwanted apps.

Installing an application distributes many files throughout your System using space of your Hard Drive unnecessarily. AppCleaner finds all these small files and safely deletes them. Simply drop an application onto the AppCleaner window. It will find for the related files and you can delete them by clicking the delete button.

Guess what ... it WORKED! Now everything is working great and I can record my camera.

You can make a short-form just by being you

Wherever you are sat or standing right now you can film a short or reel.

It doesn't matter if the room or cafe is noisy, or you don't have a script - you don't even need to speak.

Just capture what you are doing and find a relationship to your business.

If you are doing YouTube you are hopefully gaining new viewers with every video you publish.

So you can't assume people know who the heck you are!

They haven't subbed or read your bio. They were just offered up your video by YouTube based on their interests or watch history.

So .. in your videos take a few seconds at some point AFTER you delivered your hook and some value - to quickly interject something like:

"Now in case you are new around here, well I am XYZ and I help XYZ achieve XYZ, great to have you along for the journey!"

Don't make this line long, you don't want to interrupt the flow of your video and bore those who DO know who you are.

Don't say the exact same lines every video, keep it fresh.
