Hey, I hope all is good. Let's get to it: Instagram NEWS! via Mari Smith From IG: "You can repost public reels or posts on Instagram. More information on the Instagram help section: NB: Link only works on mobile: https:// help.instagram.com/1743992069496286/ Here's the gist of it: Video & the hospitality industry You don't need to be on TV like Gordon Ramsay to create your own Reality show. Savvy restaurants, bars, food trucks and more are cleverly documenting behind the scenes, for marketing and extra income streams. Maybe you are in this type or business or have clients? 👉 Interesting article here Selling Wokingham Talking about Reality TV, I am sure you have heard of Netflix's Selling Sunset a super glossy (stilletos galore) show based in glamorous LA. Well I spotted a UK property YouTube channel called 'Selling Wokingham':) If you are not from the UK, Wokingham is a quiet, smallish, pleasant town in Berkshire, but it is nothing like LA. I have no idea if the 'Selling XYZ' brand is trademarked, but either way I love how these Realtors are getting on camera and doing their own thing. Having seen them in action if I was buying in Wokingham I'd be calling them first as I feel like I know them already. The actual company is called Avocado Property Agents so they chose a much more memorable Channel name that sticks in the brain. They also haven't been mean about quality, it looks like they have a hired videographer who makes use of a gimbal and a drone to spice it up. The sound is great with 2 wireless mics perfect for 2 subjects. 👉 Watch a video Help, I don't have enough mics! Talking about sound. If you are self-shooting (like most of us) well you can hit a tricky issue when you have multiple subjects. Imagine you have 4 great people sat down at an event and you want to record an interview/presentation with the group. Well in the pro world you'd have a sound recordist with maybe 4 wireless mics and a mixer, and/or a mic on a boom pole. But if you are smartphone shooting, and have just a couple of wireless mics like the DJI Mic 2, well you can still improvise. Whatever you do, don't rely on the in built mic. Coach your subjects not to talk over each other, or talk when they don't have the mic, and they can pass the mics around the group meaning hold them in their hand as they speak (coach them not to make too much handling noise.) Here is an example on DaBoyz skate channel. Yes, DaBoyz might not be your thing, it's just a sound example: 👉 Watch video (cued at relevant spot) The Imitation Paradox A great tip from Codie Sanchez via ThinkMedia What can more mature creators do to compete in their space and get noticed? Do you to have to try and be different with your video content? In short, no, not at first. Imitate first, then ... Iterate Innovate 👉 Watch the clip .. timecode cued up here iPhone and your Video thumbnail So you want to make one of those dumb ... I mean effective :) thumbnails of your face pulling a crazy expression 😮 to layer over a background .. and for free. Use the Photo cutouts feature. (Photo cutouts are available in iOS 16 and later on iPhone XS, iPhone XR and later.) Here's me, I used a single LED ring light to make it pop but the background is horrid. Give it a chance by picking a fairly plain backdrop. Then in the photos app you press on your main subject (me) and hold to get a white outline. It separates you from the background. Then you share this new PNG image (transparent background) by airdropping (or however you prefer) to your computer. Then drag into a free canva template over a background of your choice, add text, graphics etc Canva does have a paid background remover but my method is free. Done! Jules VideoHero This edition is brought to you in partnership with
